ROOFING ESTIMATOR - Bristol 📍Position now filled

We have an opportunity for an experienced estimator to join a well established, regional roofing contractor in Bristol. 

The Roofing Estimator will be responsible for preparing accurate and competitive tenders for roofing projects, ensuring all bids are technically compliant, competitive, and aligned with company objectives. The role requires a strong understanding of roofing systems, materials, and construction processes, as well as the ability to liaise effectively with clients, suppliers, and internal teams.

Key Responsibilities

Tendering & Estimation

• Review tender documentation, specifications, and drawings to fully understand project requirements.

• Prepare accurate cost estimates for roofing projects including labour, materials, plant, and subcontract elements.

• Carry out site visits and surveys where required to assess project scope and conditions.

• Prepare and submit detailed tender returns in line with deadlines.

Procurement & Cost Analysis

• Liaise with suppliers and subcontractors to obtain competitive quotations.

• Analyse and compare supplier/subcontractor quotations to ensure best value.

• Prepare bill of quantities, material take-offs, and pricing schedules.

Collaboration & Support

• Work closely with Contracts Managers, Quantity Surveyors, and Designers to ensure tenders are realistic and deliverable.

• Provide technical and cost advice during project handovers.

• Assist the commercial team in value engineering and alternative system proposals.

Client & Stakeholder Engagement

• Maintain strong relationships with clients, consultants, suppliers, and subcontractors.

• Attend pre- and post-tender meetings where required.

• Support business development by identifying opportunities for securing new work.

Key Skills & Experience

• Proven experience as an Estimator within roofing, cladding, or general construction.

• Strong technical knowledge of roofing systems (flat, pitched, and industrial).

• Proficient in reading and interpreting construction drawings and specifications.

• Good commercial awareness and analytical ability.

• Strong IT skills (Excel, estimating software, AutoCAD – desirable).

• Excellent organisational, communication, and negotiation skills.
